SPINE 360: Comprehensive Spine Care at Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth
Neck or back pain can affect every part of life, from work and sleep to everyday activities. “Spine 360” is our whole-patient approach to spine care in Fort Worth: thorough evaluation, conservative therapies, interventional pain management, surgery when appropriate, and structured education to support recovery. At Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth, patients have access to a coordinated team, modern techniques, and resources that help them understand each step of care.
A 360° Pathway
Care begins with a thorough evaluation. Your clinician will review your symptoms and medical history, examine your spine, and look at any available imaging. You may also discuss prior treatments, daily activities, and goals. Together, you and your care team can use this information to create a 360 plan that reflects your needs, overall health, and lifestyle.
If applicable, your treatment may start with non-surgical options such as activity adjustments, guided physical therapy, and medications intended to ease inflammation or nerve irritation. If symptoms continue or any other changes occur, your surgeon may talk with you about interventional pain procedures or surgery.
To help you prepare, we offer education both online and in person through our Total Joint & Spine Classes and Online Spine Class. These resources explain what to expect before, during, and after a procedure, including home-recovery tips, pain-management guidance, and when to contact your care team.
Surgical Solutions When Needed
If non-surgical care does not sufficiently relieve symptoms or if your condition requires decompression or stabilization, your surgeon may recommend a procedure tailored to your diagnosis and goals. Common options include:
- Microdiscectomy for a herniated disc compressing a spinal nerve.
- Laminectomy to enlarge the spinal canal and relieve pressure from spinal stenosis by removing part of the lamina (the back portion of the vertebra).
- Spinal fusion (cervical or lumbar) is performed when instability is a driver of pain, to help stabilize the involved segment.
You can review procedure overviews within the Baylor Scott & White Health library to better understand terminology related to your symptoms or potential surgical outcomes.
Education and Support are Part of the Plan
Patient education is central to Spine 360. In addition to our classes, Baylor Scott & White provides surgery guides that walk through preparation, the hospital stay, and early recovery resources designed to help reduce anxiety and set expectations. Ask your care team for the latest guide for your procedure.
Recovery: What to Expect
Recovery is individualized, but many patients begin gentle mobility soon after surgery as guided by their care team. Your plan may include short, frequent walks, posture and body-mechanics coaching, and progressive strengthening. It’s common to increase activity gradually over weeks to months while monitoring symptoms and incision healing.
